Motivation Is the Most Important Word in Paganism

Hello, my Pagan family! It's been a while since I posted on Straw-Death. The long winters at Deeply Rooted Church are perfect for self-reflection. Near Paganicon, a fantastic event in the Twin Cities, I began to emerge from my winter hibernation and put my winter dreams into action.

Paganicon's party suite was a highlight. I've spent years trying to spark deeper conversations, but this time, our guests engaged fully with lots of questions, and our members were eager to share their stories. Paganicon was a great success for us, and I'm prouder than ever to be part of Deeply Rooted Church.

A network of Pagans who are freely sharing resources, helping other communities, and motivating our kith and kin.

Jimi Frith, Founder

We also gained great networking opportunities. Deeply Rooted Church representatives recently connected with Jimi Frith, the founder of The Minnesota Old Ways, a network for Pagan communities and events on Discord. It's like a modern version of Witchvox for ’90s Pagans. Jimi’s group aims to be a strong force in the Pagan community, serving as teachers, allies, and sources of inspiration.

Jimi's effort is important because it helps create a vibrant community. I think for a long time, Pagans have felt defeated. We have our share of drama, failures, and breakups like any group. However, what sets us apart is our desire to take charge of our own lives.

What made Jimi stand out to me was his persistence in the face of adversity. As some of you might now, there aren’t a lot of examples of functioning networks of Pagans for people to mess with so Jimi is really kind of a pioneer and I respect that about him.

Need inspiration on your path?

Check out what Jimi’s written on his blog on his adventure through Celtic and Norse Paganism.

You can see it in his eyes. Jimi is inspired, and I think we could take a lesson from him.

He’s on to something, and even if that something is unproven now, I think we owe him our support. I think as much as we can be brought down by losers and toxic leadership, I think even an organization that’s deeply rooted for 25 years can take a lesson from a new kid on the block. Thank you, Jimi!

Motivation may be the most important word to us in Paganism and you may just have taught us this lesson!
